Mneme does not collect any data. Not anonymized data, not aggregated data, not "diagnostics". There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDK of any kind in the app.
This policy covers the Mneme iPhone app and this website. It is written by the person who wrote the app, and it describes what the code actually does.
Your songs, your practice history (which lines held, which slipped, when you practiced) and your settings are stored inside the app's own storage on your iPhone. There is no server behind Mneme, and none of this is sent anywhere. Deleting a song deletes its history; deleting the app deletes everything.
Mneme listens while you sing or speak a song, to tell which words you got. It asks for the microphone and for speech recognition the first time you start a practice pass, and nothing in it listens until you tap Start.
Recognition runs entirely on your iPhone, using Apple's on-device speech model, which iOS downloads from Apple once. Your audio is not sent to Apple or to me.
Mneme keeps a recording of each song's latest Perform on your phone, so you can play a line back. It is about 0.2 MB a minute, it never leaves the device, and Settings › Recordings turns it off and deletes the ones kept.
You can add lyrics by scanning a printed page or choosing screenshots. The text is read on your iPhone. The pictures are not kept, and Mneme only sees the photos you pick.
Find online is a small web browser inside Mneme for searching for a song's lyrics. It opens Google, with SafeSearch on, and a list of lyrics sites, and nothing else. The pages you visit are loaded directly from those sites, under their own privacy policies, the same as in Safari. Mneme reads only the text you select and choose to use. It blocks known advertising networks on those pages. Mneme keeps no record of what you search for or visit; the sites' own cookies are kept by iOS's web view, as Safari keeps them, which is how a cookie notice you've answered stays answered.
Mneme Pro is sold through the App Store as a one-time purchase. Apple handles the entire transaction. Mneme never sees your name, your payment details or your Apple Account — only whether this device holds Pro. Apple's own privacy policy governs the purchase.
Because Mneme collects nothing from anyone, it collects nothing from children either. It has no ads and no way to communicate with other people. Find online opens only Google, with SafeSearch on, and lyrics sites.
Laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to see, correct, export or delete the personal data a developer holds about you. I hold none — there is no database, no mailing list and no record of you anywhere. If you email me, I will have that email; I use it to answer you and nothing else, and I will delete it on request.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear on this page and the date at the top will change. If a future version of the app ever collects anything, that will be stated here plainly and reflected in the App Store privacy label before the release ships.
